Many cricket fans may call this year ICC Champions Trophy, An “ICC Rain Washed Trophy”. As many matches got affected by rains. Now the finals of this tournament are remaining which is in between India vs Pakistan at Oval on Sunday, But what if England’s weather did not support?
India and Pakistan reached to finals, and this is what most of the fans are dreaming. This is the second time after the 2007 world cup T20 when India and Pakistan meeting in finals of any ICC tournament.
In second semifinals also rain interrupted the match in the start but fortunately India vs Bangladesh was completed without any trouble. Now weather forecast for the final match at the Oval on 18th June says expected rain during the match.
Back in 2002, when Finals of Champions Trophy in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 29 September 2002, was rained out on both the days reserved for the Finals. And the trophy to be shared between India and Sri Lanka.
Good News for the India vs Pakistan Finals.
But the good news is ICC Champions Trophy has reserved one extra day for the final match if the first day was ruined due to rain.
The Reserved Day
If the match was completed on the first day then the match will be continued on next day from the point match was stopped.
If selected day (18 June) was gone wasted without a single ball being bowled then the match will be started on reserve day i.e. 19 June.
The Mysterious Duckworth Lewis
If on the reserve day match will not get complete with minimum overs required to declare a winner, then both teams India and Pakistan will share the Champions Trophy.
The Last Possibility
If match got the tie, which we have seen in 2007 T20 World Cup. In this case, both teams will play a super over the match and even if this is not possible, then both team will share the Trophy.
